[00:00:00] Speaker A: Go Panthers. [00:00:01] Speaker B: Go, go. [00:00:02] Speaker A: Go Panthers. Go Panthers. Go Panthers. Go, go, go, go, go, go, go. [00:00:06] Speaker B: You better. [00:00:07] Speaker A: Go Panthers, go. Let's go. Let's go. VSC Panthers. Let's go. [00:00:14] Speaker B: Welcome to VSC Panthers Perspective. My name is Kiana. [00:00:18] Speaker A: My name is Victoria. My name is Elsie. [00:00:21] Speaker C: And my name is Madison. [00:00:23] Speaker B: Today we'll be talking about cheerleading and. [00:00:27] Speaker C: The basketball game that happened yesterday. [00:00:29] Speaker A: So Elsie, how do you. How were you feeling when you. How were you. How were you feeling when you did the basketball game? Were you nervous? It was fun because it was. I wasn't nervous because there was no cheerleaders there. [00:00:44] Speaker B: How many steps, how many chairs did you like? [00:00:48] Speaker A: Probably defense. [00:00:51] Speaker B: The defense here, like the defense attack and stuff. Yes, we did. [00:00:56] Speaker C: No, we didn't. [00:00:59] Speaker A: We didn't. [00:00:59] Speaker C: We only did defense. [00:01:01] Speaker A: Probably the defense. Cheers. [00:01:04] Speaker B: We only did one defense here. Okay, I hear you. [00:01:09] Speaker A: I know. Okay, so what I like, I like doing cheerleading because it's very fun. And then after we learn all our cheers, we, we go to basketball games. But this game, there was no cheerleader, so we couldn't like really do a battle because we was expecting to do cheer bottle cheer battles. [00:01:33] Speaker C: But I heard. Well, was expecting to cheer battles because I heard that they left after we came. [00:01:40] Speaker A: But, but I think, I think I seen some of the people on the, the bleachers. [00:01:46] Speaker B: The chair we cheered. I mean, the chair that we battled last time. [00:01:49] Speaker A: Yeah, I think so because I think I remember what like one or two of their faces. [00:01:55] Speaker B: Well, my favorite thing about cheerleading is like when we get to do like chairs and like. [00:02:05] Speaker A: And, and I'm also excited for next Tuesday because we're, it's a home game, so we get to do halftime and we get to do chopper slide and stuff. And that's one of our favorite dances. [00:02:16] Speaker B: Yeah, my favorite, my favorite part of cheerleading is doing half times because like we get to. [00:02:21] Speaker A: You get to dance especially when you have home shows. Because home, home basketball games. Because last night was a home game. We went to somebody else's school last night. [00:02:33] Speaker B: We won and we got. [00:02:34] Speaker A: It was 45 by 25. [00:02:38] Speaker B: 45 to 25. And that team was. They were. That's surprising because like our team is like short to small and their team is like tall. Tall. [00:02:46] Speaker A: Tall. There was a, there was a white man. He had a full on beard. They're like the big, the big one. [00:02:54] Speaker C: 31. 31. [00:02:56] Speaker A: He has to be in high school. Like he had a full on beard and he was mad tall. He was mad tall. He had a full on beard. Like, like not Even like a little, little sideburn. [00:03:07] Speaker C: I felt like. I really felt bad for like that team was still. [00:03:11] Speaker B: But no, like you gotta understand like people develop stuff more faster but through puberty. [00:03:16] Speaker A: Like he had a whole beard. [00:03:17] Speaker B: Yeah, he probably like 13. He had. He probably hit puberty. [00:03:20] Speaker C: Puberty. [00:03:22] Speaker B: But yeah. [00:03:22] Speaker C: I feel bad for like Sylvester. [00:03:25] Speaker B: I feel bad for like. I feel bad for like what's his name? Tamir. Cuz he kept dropping like I don't. [00:03:30] Speaker C: Think his shoes was right. [00:03:31] Speaker A: He had New balances on. He. He didn't have basketball shoes on. Oh yeah he did. He had the colorful New balances. [00:03:38] Speaker B: Her shoes cuz she had basketball shoes. But his feet like really big. [00:03:42] Speaker A: That was in basketball. Those are soccer. I think those were soccer. [00:03:45] Speaker C: Those were basketball. [00:03:47] Speaker B: Don't do soccer. She play basketball. [00:03:49] Speaker A: They were soccer I think. I don't know. But. [00:03:51] Speaker C: But how I felt about cheering and the game last night. For cheerleader. I like to cheerleader cuz the uniforms are very cute and stuff like that. But I like to like new learn new cheers. But mostly I was already experienced cuz I cheerleaded like last year in my school. [00:04:10] Speaker A: I don't really like the cheerleading uniforms cuz the shorts that she gives us are super, super tight. And then I telling Ms. Rahima that they be lifting up. They'd be lifting up. She's like it's okay. That's why you have shirts under like girl. I don't want nobody to see. [00:04:26] Speaker B: I think it's like why do you think that cheerleading is do like. Do you like. Why do you think cheerleading is so like important, like exciting and like fun? [00:04:41] Speaker A: Me? I. I just like. Like I have adhd so I have to move around a lot. So I think that's why. [00:04:49] Speaker B: Elsie, why you think cheerleading is like important and fun? Excited for you. [00:04:53] Speaker A: It's fun because we get to do a lot of stuff with it. Like make stunts and stuff. But I think after the second home game we might learn how to do stunts. [00:05:03] Speaker B: So yeah, we up in the air. [00:05:05] Speaker A: We was trying still last week. [00:05:08] Speaker B: Madison, what do you think? Why you think chair is so important and like exciting to you? [00:05:13] Speaker C: When I cheerleade I feel like I'm just giving out a lot of energy. Stuff like that. And I am like having fun. Because cheerleading. Yeah, cuz cheerleading is fun. And it's like you can travel and like look at basketball games and you can even learn when you look at the basketball games. [00:05:30] Speaker A: Yeah, and when I be cheerleading I don't really think about much. All I'm focusing on is me. Trying to learn the chair and get it correct. I'm not focusing on anything else but the cheer. [00:05:39] Speaker C: And, like, cheerleading gets stuff off my mind. [00:05:42] Speaker A: Yeah, that's what I'm saying. [00:05:43] Speaker B: Well, what makes cheerleading so important and exciting for me is, like, I give so much energy to it, and then it's like, sometimes it just want to. I just want to quit. But then, like, it's like, you can't quit because, like, you're so attracted and, like, stuck to it. [00:05:59] Speaker C: It's time, and it's fun. [00:06:01] Speaker B: It did? Yes. Like, yesterday, I had. My whole body was hurting. Like, oh, my gosh. [00:06:06] Speaker A: This morning, I woke up with yesterday. [00:06:09] Speaker B: Night, I went to sleep, like, I was like, over here. I was. Who? I was texting. I was over here texting somebody, and I kept laughing. I was like. And then. And then when I went up again, I was like. [00:06:22] Speaker A: And then what? [00:06:23] Speaker B: I was on the phone with. [00:06:24] Speaker A: What you call that? [00:06:25] Speaker B: I was on the phone with whatever his name is. And then he was like. I was like, ah, ah, ah. I got a he. Like, oh, that's what you get. I said, yeah. And then I went in the room. I went, like, in the living room. It's like, mommy, help me. Ow. [00:06:40] Speaker C: Like, mommy, can you help me? [00:06:41] Speaker B: You know me. And I was, like, bouncing my foot, and, like, I couldn't use the bathroom because if I bend it, it would, like, every time. [00:06:47] Speaker A: Every time. Every time I get cramp, I'd be, like. I'd be, like, starting to cry. Like, almost starting to cry because it hurts so much. Especially on, like, the back of your leg. Oh, my God, that hurts so much. [00:06:56] Speaker B: I'll be telling my mom to help me. [00:06:57] Speaker A: And then she said, all she told me to do is stand up and put my. Put, like, my step on my foot. Like, girl, that is not gonna help. I can't even move my foot correctly. [00:07:07] Speaker B: What help will help me? I was doing like this. [00:07:09] Speaker C: But for right now, we're gonna start like. Like, say, like, we're gonna show you. [00:07:14] Speaker A: One of our cheers. Keep your hands up and hustle. 4, 2 Panthers D up and don't let them shoot. Keep your hands up and hustle for 2 panthers D up and don't let them shoot. [00:07:29] Speaker C: But for right now, we're going to finish like. Like, saying, like, we're going to show. [00:07:34] Speaker A: You one of our cheers. That was one of our che. We kind. We kind of messed up, but. [00:07:42] Speaker C: Okay, well, let's do. [00:07:43] Speaker A: We're going to do another 1, 3. Get that ball back. Keep your hands up and hustle. Get that ball back. That was one of our cheers. We kind of messed up. [00:08:16] Speaker B: Is Pressure. [00:08:18] Speaker A: My favorite chair is probably. Okay, well, we're going to do another one. Wait. It's probably Go Panthers because I started. [00:08:25] Speaker C: But we're gonna do Pressure since Keanu likes it. [00:08:28] Speaker B: P R E Y double S U. [00:08:31] Speaker A: R E ring D Fence. Get that ball back. [00:08:39] Speaker C: Defense. Get that ball back. [00:08:44] Speaker A: Defense. Defense. Get that ball back. Deep fence. Get that ball. Okay, I got a question for Kiana. When did you, like, start liking dance and start cheering and you really noticed, like, oh, I want to start cheering and actually do this. [00:09:04] Speaker B: That's it. [00:09:05] Speaker C: Like, who inspired you? [00:09:07] Speaker B: Let's say, like, TikTok. Let's say, like, cheer is. Pressure is probably at 10 years old, like, I was like, wait, like, it's. [00:09:19] Speaker A: Probably Go Panthers because I started. [00:09:20] Speaker C: But we're gonna do Pressure. [00:09:25] Speaker A: Yeah, because before I came to here, it wasn't, like, a program in my school, but it was called, like, New Settlements Youth Thing in the Bronx. And it wasn't. It wasn't cheering, but it was, like, dancing, and I actually really liked it, and I was actually pretty good. So then once I went to school and then all my friends were, like, in cheering steps, so I was like, oh, I'm just gonna probably do it just to be with them and after school. But then I actually started to like doing it, and then that's why when I thought I was like, oh, I actually really like this. What about Elsie? What about you? Probably, like, the fourth grade. The fourth grade. Okay. What about what? What about you, Madison? [00:10:06] Speaker C: Probably, like, when I was, like, 5 years old, because I've been cheerleading since. Well, I wasn't cheerleading since 5 years old, but I started to, like, see people choosing and stuff like that. And then when I first, like, started to, like, cheerlead, it was like, when I was in fourth grade, I mostly, like. [00:10:27] Speaker B: I mostly like cheerleading because, like, it helps me get my mind off of it. And it's like. It's so fun and exciting. I don't know. It's something about it that makes it, like, so, like, dude, let me do this. Let me do that. [00:10:41] Speaker A: Do y'all think this could be a future career in the. In the future? [00:10:44] Speaker B: Okay, like, you know how. [00:10:45] Speaker A: I got a question for Kiana. When did you, like, start liking dance and start cheering? And you really notice, like, oh, I want to start cheering. And actually that Blue Dallas Cow Girls. A cheerleader? [00:10:59] Speaker B: Yeah, but that. Before I started cheerleading, I was doing 10 and I was watching the girls. What about at 10 years old, like, I was like. It was like, like, I like, oh, I'm try cheerleading to see if I make it. And then like, as soon as I honestly. [00:11:14] Speaker A: Maybe not cheerleading, but probably. Yeah. Because I like, honestly, for me, it wasn't like a program in my school, but it was called like. And it wasn't. It wasn't my career, but it was like dancing and I actually really liked it, and I was actually pretty good. So then once I went to school and then all my friends were like in chess. So I was like, oh, I'm gonna just probably do my. But then I actually started to like doing it. And then that's why when I thought I was like, oh, I actually really like this. What about Elsie? What about you then? Like, do like. Like, like nails. Okay. What about you? What about you, Madison? [00:12:00] Speaker C: Because I've been cheerleading. My first options. I wasn't cheerleaders since 5 years old, but I started to like cheerleading and stuff like that. When I first started to, like, cheerlead, it was like when I was. [00:12:12] Speaker A: And I mostly like, wait, wait, let Elsie do. What is your. [00:12:18] Speaker B: I mostly like cheerleading because, like, my options, it helps me get my mind off of it. And it's like, it's so fun and exciting. I don't know. It's something about it. It makes it like, so like, dude, let me do this, let me do that. [00:12:31] Speaker A: Do y'all think this could be a future career? In the. In the future? [00:12:35] Speaker B: Yes. Like, you know how cow. The cow. What's that thing? [00:12:38] Speaker A: What's that? [00:12:38] Speaker C: Trinity started. [00:12:40] Speaker B: Yeah, they didn't really start it. It's like your hands. You're doing stunts. [00:12:49] Speaker A: It comes from like, I think Africa. [00:12:50] Speaker B: Yeah, but that. But before I started training, I was doing basketball and probably it just got so, like, popular. [00:12:58] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:12:58] Speaker B: And then to school, I'm going try chili. [00:13:01] Speaker A: Probably. They started basketball, whatever. And then it was like, honestly. Honestly, for me, some people is not like, excited enough on the, like, basketball. Watching basketball game. So if you do this, like, do cheerleaders, it will make it more exciting. [00:13:19] Speaker B: I want my dream job to be. It was going to be basketball, flag football or football. [00:13:24] Speaker A: My. My three options. I have my first option that I always had since I was like. Before that I wanted to be a doctor. My second option is like, do like. All right. [00:13:46] Speaker B: I have a. I have a tricky question for y'all. [00:13:48] Speaker C: Might be. Is probably my first option. [00:13:50] Speaker B: What rules do you. Are you supposed to have in cheerleading? [00:13:54] Speaker A: You have to. You have to hide your arms straight. Like, we have. Our thing is called 1 2. So we do. We do a high V. I think it's called a broken teeth. So when you do 1, 2, it'll be like 1, 2. Like that. And then no phones. Yeah, we can't have phones on this. But other. Oh yeah. We're supposed to bring. We're supposed to bring extra clothes. But sometimes a lot of people don't bring it. Cuz our school clothes is like not that comfortable. So that's why Mr. Hima tells us to do that. [00:14:28] Speaker B: No, like what I meant is like while doing training bring enough attitude. [00:14:36] Speaker A: Like have a lot of. [00:14:37] Speaker B: You're moving your hands. [00:14:39] Speaker A: It comes from like don't have a lot of energy. You have to perform. You have to perform like you're doing right now. Like yeah, stuff. Probably they started basketball every year. You have to perform like you're going to perform. If you just. People is not like I'm excited enough on the. On the like basketball. If you do this, like if we get cheerleaders will make it more exciting and people will want to be there more. [00:15:10] Speaker C: What about you, El? [00:15:11] Speaker B: Why do you think these rules are important to follow? [00:15:15] Speaker A: For me, for me probably like this right here. My help. But then I stopped getting. [00:15:25] Speaker C: I said do you think started cheer? [00:15:33] Speaker A: Probably like the African had enough energy to make. [00:15:37] Speaker B: All right, I have a qu. I have a tricky question for y'all. You know what rules. [00:15:42] Speaker A: I also have another question. You have to. You have to have your arms straight. Like we have. Our thing is called onew. So we do. We do a high. Oh yeah. So we do that. So when you do 1, 2. I also got another question. Who do you think like not like inspired you or like can't have. Who like who helped you with cheerleading dance? But other. Oh yeah. We supposed to bring. We're supposed to bring extra clothes sometimes. [00:16:13] Speaker B: A lot of help me like embrace myself. [00:16:15] Speaker A: Our school clothes is like not. [00:16:20] Speaker B: Hard. But yeah. [00:16:23] Speaker A: Cuz my old. We can be serious and funny sometimes she would just be serious. Don't have a lot of energy. And then like how Mr. Says you have to perform. You have to perform like you're doing right now. Like you would perform like you have to act like. [00:16:40] Speaker C: So you have to act like you have to act like that. You're like at the basketball. [00:16:44] Speaker A: Yeah. You have to perform like you're going to perform regularly. Cuz if you just. You just. Just like if you just practice when you rehearsal. You practice like that. Oh, oh. No energy whatever. You're gonna not even notice that you're not doing no energy when you get to the actual basketball game. Okay, but do y'all have anybody who like inspired you to cheerleading before are important to follow? [00:17:07] Speaker C: I think these rules are important. [00:17:09] Speaker B: Before I did, before I like the cheerleading I was thinking about doing major R. But then like I seen like it's too much all that. And I was not trying to break nothing on his body. So like I was. I like I went a little farther, deeper. And then it was. It was first majorette, then it was dance. And then that's when I like got introduced to cheerleading. [00:17:30] Speaker C: You know, for me. As I said. [00:17:33] Speaker A: I also have another question. [00:17:36] Speaker C: She mostly inspired me more because she did more like cheerleaching is. [00:17:42] Speaker A: It's important because it helps you like know how you are and shows you Honestly, before I had my other teacher before I also got another teacher. Who do you think like not like inspired you or like who like who helped you with. I usually. I usually like do other things. Like I like. I like other things like sports. I don't really do dance. [00:18:09] Speaker B: She's like very expressing. [00:18:11] Speaker A: I was already thinking about getting cheerleaded cuz my old teacher, she was good at cheerleading but she was so rude. At least Mr. Hema like we can be serious and funny at. [00:18:20] Speaker B: Sometimes she would just be serious and sometimes funny. [00:18:23] Speaker C: But she's actually for me. She's nice though for me like who helped me. [00:18:30] Speaker A: I like to do in the home games because we get to. Cuz we get to do the halftime. [00:18:34] Speaker C: So you like to do it but then she outside. [00:18:37] Speaker A: I want to honestly do it outside. Cuz we never did it outside. We only do it inside the school. [00:18:41] Speaker B: And when you're outside it's your voice get more projected. [00:18:45] Speaker C: Like it knows like what we're capable. [00:18:47] Speaker A: I. I don't actually agree with that because I feel like there's more echo in basketball. In the basketball. Do y'all have anybody who like inspired. [00:18:53] Speaker B: You to chill maybe before really say it the word before. I did before actually cheerleading. I was thinking about doing major wreck. But then like I seen like and I was not trying to break nothing on his body. So like anyways I was. I like I went a little farther, deeper. And then it I it first major, then it was dance. And then that's when I think is best got introduced to cheerlead cheerleading for me or major it. [00:19:23] Speaker A: Honestly. Honestly I would like to do major rep but it's just like it's so many stuff. It's so much things to learn too. And I only know and then you have like a split and a cartwheel and only like easy stuff like that. I don't know how to do like those other things they'd be doing. Honestly I know not major. I would like to learn. Maybe Mr. Hima one time could teach us a major Red dance. And maybe if we could like get it faster. Some people get it fast. Maybe I'll be like oh, I could get. I usually. I usually like do other things. Like maybe if I try out maybe like it. I like other things. Like stuff like I don't really do dance and stuff before like two years or three years ago. I think I wasn't really thinking about doing cheerleading or step. I stopped because or dance was hurting for me. [00:20:08] Speaker C: Major R. I only did like where like for me this is not like. [00:20:12] Speaker B: No. I said which one is best. Major cheerleading. [00:20:15] Speaker C: Make sure for me Major Rat is for like basketball. [00:20:20] Speaker A: I like to do in the home games. Cuz we get to and then cuz we get to do the halftime little while. [00:20:25] Speaker C: And then outside or inside. [00:20:28] Speaker A: I want to honestly do it outside. Cuz we never did it outside. We only do it inside the school. [00:20:32] Speaker B: And when you're outside it's your more projected. [00:20:35] Speaker A: That's why I said I don't know. Because I. I don't actually agree with that. Cuz I feel like basketball and the basketball for me right now it's cheerful when you're outside. [00:20:45] Speaker B: You like actually use your voice and project area. Actually really say it the words clearly. If I do it area I'm gonna just fall right in my head. But anyways, what I want to know is like I said if you have enough energy for major Red. [00:20:59] Speaker A: I think I do. But if like if you have practice like every day, whatever. I'm obviously get like cramps and stuff. Like just yesterday y'all two got cramps from cheerleading. Do you think it's from two hours? Imagine Major doing it every day. I would like to do major and they was and they were standing up for super. Do you think you had the energy and then you have like a split and a cartwheel and only like easy stuff like that. I don't know how to do like those other things they'd be doing. But I know that Major Rat is all doing. I would like to learn like maybe Mr. Hima one time could teach us Major Red dance. And maybe if we could like get it faster, some people could get it fast. Maybe I'll be like oh, I could get into. But I never really tried it to like knock it. So maybe you see all the other girls like stuff like that. [00:21:44] Speaker B: Do you think you have enough energy right now? We're going to be playing a game, and it's called guest to cheer. Basically, how the game goes is you stand behind a person and you do a chair, and the person has to guess it within 30 seconds which one is best. [00:22:06] Speaker C: For me, Majorette is kind of hard. [00:22:13] Speaker A: And then you got it. [00:22:16] Speaker B: And then the step is hustle too much. [00:22:21] Speaker A: Yeah, it is correct. That's what I'm saying. That's why I said I don't know, because I feel like I like nature red. But I never tried. That's what I'm saying. Ch. For me right now, it's cheer. [00:22:34] Speaker C: Like, for me, if I do Ariel. [00:22:38] Speaker A: Ariel area. [00:22:43] Speaker B: I'm just. But anyway, what I want to know is, like, do you think it's jamming? [00:22:48] Speaker A: Do it. Energy for correct. Do. But if, like, if you have practice, like, every day, whatever, obviously get, like, cramps and stuff. Like just yesterday, y'all two really got cramps from cheerleading from, like, only 22 hours. So imagine major every day. [00:23:04] Speaker B: Yeah. Waited 10 minutes. Go panthers, go. [00:23:06] Speaker A: It is correct. And they were standing official. [00:23:09] Speaker B: Okay.
